I paint because I know no better way to process the world around me. The beauty and the pain. Also, it brings me joy.

The Artist

Mostly I paint what needs to come out. Not a very poetic way to put it, but as accurate as I can be. I show up repeatedly and then I listen as well as I can. Sometime I can’t hear, then I page through National Geographics or search for interesting images online, or watch the squirrels chase each other in the trees outside my studio. But when I can hear, I sort of ‘feel’ where the next mark needs to be and then I just stay in conversation for as long as I can.
I am pretty convinced that spending time in nature and the act of making is what is missing and what can potentially help us fix the mess we’ve created.
I love liminality, playing with uncertainty, and I never want to try and answer questions with my work. It’s more about playing with questions and practicing okayness with not having answers.
Glass and reflections show up a lot, and nature. I am tickled by the point where man made structures overlap with nature. Perhaps there is something post all of this that looks symbiotic. A girl can dream.
